You have seen the movie "Hotel Rwanda."  You heard President Obama and Senator McCain address Rwanda in the presidential debates.  BUT WHY WERE THE ATROCITES THAT OCCURED IN THIS SMALL CENTRAL AFRICAN COUNTRY SO IMPORTANT?  Come learn the TRUTH behind the Rwandan Genocide from Rwandan scholars; how the genocide affected women, and how it forever changed foreign policy between the United States and Africa.  Institute for Women's Leadership Scholar Jennifer Kanyamibwa, presents a panel discussion addressing the atrocities that occurred throughout the 1990's in HER motherland, Rwanda.

Rwanda Expert, Felician Kanyamibwa, Ph.D
Co- Founder of OPJDR (Organization for Peace, Justice and Development in Rwanda), an American based human rights organization.

Scholar, Constance Morrill
graduate from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs who has extensively worked and published on the Rwandan judicial system, Gacaca.

Rwandan Women Rights Activist, Marie Rose Malikidogo
President/Founder of the African Women Council, Inc, an NGO based in Washington, DC that focuses on the consequences of war on women in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
