Jeffrey D. Sachs is a Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development and
Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University.  As
Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, he has
been one of the leading voices for combining economic development with
environmental sustainability. In his role as Director of the Earth
Institute, he leads large-scale efforts to promote the reducation of
human-induced climate change. Previously, he was Director of the UN
Millenium Project and Special Advisor to Secretary-General Kofi Annan on
the Millennium Development Goals.
