Conference: The Professor and the Spy: Area Studies and the Politics of Global Security

The conference will aim to include diverse positions on the past, present, and future of academic collaboration with US intelligence agencies.  Dr. Joanna Regulska, SAS Dean of International Programs, will introduce the event.  The conference will have three panels in total, with four presentations per panel.

Speakers for Panel 1 on February 12 include: Robert Albro, Communication, American University; Hugh Gusterson, Anthropology, George Mason University; David Wiley, Sociology, Michigan State University; and Keith Brown, Anthropology, Brown University.

Speakers for Panel 2 on February 13 include: Brenda Chalfin, Anthropology, University of Florida; Daniel Goldstein, Anthropology, Rutgers University; Richard Nisa, Geography, Rutgers University; and Robyn Rodriguez, Sociology, Rutgers University.

Speakers for Panel 3 on February 13 include: Joseph Masco, Anthropology, University of Chicago; Laura McNamara, Sandia National Laboratory; Jack Bratich, Journalism and Media Studies, Rutgers University; and Zia Mian, Program on Science and Global Security, Princeton University.
