César Braga-Pinto, Spanish and Portuguese andComparative Literature, Rutgers University will be the moderator.

Denise Ferreira da Silva is the author of "Towards a Global Idea of Race" (University of Minnesota Press, 2007) and is the guest editor of a special issue, “Race and Nation in Brazil,” of the journal Social Identities (2004).

Herman Bennett is the author of "Africans in Colonial Mexico: Absolutism, Christianity and Afro-Creole Consciousness, 1570–1640" (Indiana University Press, 2003).
